General information
An ancient civilisation destroyed by the gods, a corrupted organisation controlling the peace and a complete idiot!
Join in the adventure of Van on his epic quest, of not being epic.
Storyline
Back story
An ancient legend passed through generations speaks of an ancestral race, the Vanir, whose power could command the very elements themselves to do their bidding. After a time, the ancestors became corrupted and incurred the wrath of the gods. The Vanir were sentenced to death; the gods used their power to obliterate the great cities that stood as an affront to the gods.
Years passed and new civilisations bloomed and rotted and an age of darkness in sued. To stop the legions of darkness the remaining peoples forged an organisation, and with the very weapons of their enemy and cast down their foes in the name of the gods.
In the following years this organisation seized control of the land, claiming to protect the people and stop corruption from ever reigning again.
The Valkyrie
The Valkyrie are relidgous fanatics in essence. They strictly believe that they are protecting the people and will go to any lengths to stop others from using the “evil” powers of the ancients. Unknown to them their weapons are the same as the ancient weapons that they fought against, this if only known to the highest ranked members of the Valkrie though.
There are several levels to the organisation, the lower members who carry simple runic swords and other simple weapons. These lower members operate in teams consisting of 3-9 members with a designated team leader, the smaller the team the stronger the members in the team.
The “named” Valkyrie who weird great spears or “Glaives” forged in the ancient war. The NV or “named” Valkyrie correspond to the actual Valkyrie of Norse mythology:
* Brynhild
* Geironul
* Geirskogul
* Goll
* Gondul
* Gunn
* Guth
* Herfjotur
* Hervor [Warder of the Host]
* Hild [Battle]
* Hlathguth [Necklace-Adorned Warrior-Maiden
* Hlokk
* Hrist
* Mist
* Olrun [One Knowing Ale Rune]
* Randgrith
* Rathgrith
* Reginleif
* Sigrdrifa
* Sigrun
* Skeggjold
* Skogul
* Skuld [Necessity]
* Svava
* Thruth
Fighting these Valkyrie will take place both in the storyline and quest parts of the game. The quests for the best weapons items spells and skills will involve killing these super powers warriors both by themselves and in sequence *one quest leading to another if the Valkyrie is defeated*.
The highest levels of the Valkyrie are shrouded in mystery. They use the ancients technology to gain power for themselves but keep all lower members in the dark including the NV *Named Valkyrie* who they directly give power to.
The Vanir
The Vanir were a civilisation that controlled the elemental powers of the planet. Using these powers they built great cities corresponding to the elements fire, water, earth ice ect…
The cities resemble large mounds with circle layers on them like the following diagram.

The Vanir had the ability to use these citied to harness the elemental forces of the planet and condense them into different forms. They created swords, poles, spears and guns.
The guns used bullets of the elemental energy to cast spells, these rare resources will be gathered through quests after a gun is obtained.
The Vanir technology and architecture resembles that of the Mayan and Aztec crossed with a little bit of modern technology.

System
Magic and skills
The main way of learning skills and “magic” in Valkyrie Twilight is Via questing. There will be numerous zones only available by taking on a quest or series of quests. These zones may contain an item that teaches the skill or spell, a weapon imbues with a skill/spell ect. Alternatively the skill or spell can be the reward of the quest. One example a Weapons expert asking for special ore from XXXXX place and he will teach you “Avenger” move for the completion of the quest
Each weapon will have it’s own skill sets available to it, and magic will not be included (so a sword skill cant be used with a quarterstaff equipped but spells can be used regardless of weapon). This will be overruled by special items in the game.
The final way of using skills is Vanir ancient technology. With the use of a gun and sealed bullets high lv magic can be cast without wasting magic power or being proficient at magic. However the ammo is costly and hard to come by, several sets of ammo are so rare they can only be found in the hardest of dungeons!
Battle
The battle system will follow normal side view final fantasy styles fights. Details pending.

Midgard
Vanaheim
Vanaheim is the continent where the Vanir civilisation began. Only a few settlements lie scattered around the coastline of the continent, Most of the inhabitants fear to go further in for fear of the god’s wrath. These settlements do however have some of the higher quality goods for sale due to access to large amounts of raw materials and scarce Vanir technology
Aeiser
Aeiser is the second largest continent on Midgard. It is where the last survivors of the great wars flead to and eventually formed the Valkyrie. The continent is very diverse insipight of its size, but due to the Valkyrie trading is regulated and any Vanir technology has been confiscated or destroyed along with all ruins.
Niflheim
Niflheim is a very small artic continent to the north. Ships and traders eager to make the best profit, or with nothing to loose may sometimes dare to sail close to it but few ever return to port.
Alfheim
Alfheim is a small chain of islands in-between the 2 great continents of Midgard. Due to their small size they are left separate of the affairs of the Valkyrie to some extent. The island states are constantly fighting over what little territory they have, due to this supplies in all the states run low very frequently and guests are most often not welcome unless they are of some use or have a merchant ship.
